Harrison Wins National Title
Posted on Wednesday 8th September 2010 by Jan Booth

At just 9 years old young Karting ace Harrison Thomas of Merthyr Tydfil whose dad Julian Thomas of Thomas & Davies Citroen won the Comer Cadet class for the NKRA held at the Llandow Circuit, just a few miles west of Cardiff.
It was a bonus that it was at Harrison’s local track as the Championship moves around the country each year. It was still going to be a tough weekend with many of the top Comer Cadet drivers and the Welsh Champion also competing, he knew he had to be at his best.
There were three heats on the Saturday and after proving he was on the pace in free practice on Friday he and father Julian a former Karting Champion knew it was race craft and not just pace that was going to be a key factor.
Starting from 13th he moved through the pack with a most determined drive to take a superb 2nd and winning the following two heats, the father and son team were delighted and Harrison impressed many with his superb track skill.
With the Sunday heat and final to complete Harrison could not relax as Welsh Champion Harry Williams was keeping the pressure on and Harrison had to finish in the top two positions in the fourth heat and win the final, from 7th on the grid in heat four he drove a thrilling race to again take the win. This meant that the youngster was to start from pole for the final; naturally the father and son team now wanted the win after working so hard all year and weekend. Harrison was not to disappoint as he took the lead back on the 2nd lap and just kept recording personal best times to build and to take the superb win after 14 laps. This is the first National Championship the youngster has competed in and Harrison is also leading two other major club championships, which he is now looking forward to completing. Harrison has also been invited to compete in the prestigious London Cup by the Zip Young Guns, the team that first spotted and helped Lewis Hamilton. Harrison and his dad would also like to thank Tom Johnson of Tommy Motorsport for all his hard work keeping his engines in tip top condition.
Tom Johnson provides cadet & bambino engines and parts to young drivers wishing to race Karts. Tom has many hints and tips on how Liqui Moly products can be used to maintain the smooth running of an engine and highly endorses Ceratec to be added to your oil after a service.
Julian Thomas has long favoured the use of Liqui Moly products at his garage and is also an approved member of the Good Garage Guide.
Congratulations to all involved.
